TASTES LIKE
A summer night’s bonfire, wrapped in shortbread sweetness. On the nose, you’ll find freshly cut grass, barbecued pineapple and delicate coastal smoke - all underpinned by buttery apples and soft green pepper. The palate glows with barbecued citrus, runny honey and creamy hazelnuts, before the smoke thickens into birchwood and burnt embers. The finish is long, bright and creamy, with sherbet candy (flying saucers!), bitter orange peel and a wisp of sea salt.
Key Takeouts
- Sweet Smoke
- Baked Apples

MEET THE DISTILLERY
Forget what you think you know about Lowland whisky. Lochlea is an independent, family-owned farm and distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, growing their own barley and redefining what single malt from the Lowlands can be. Learn more about Lochlea here.
LABEL INSPIRATION
For this label, we took inspiration from Lochlea’s single estate ethos, where every drop begins in the field. We echoed the tractor tyre marks found on their bottle by weaving a similar texture into our design, and the deep greens, golden yellows and subtle leaf motifs are a nod to the barley fields of Ayrshire.
MUSIC TO SIP TO
Enjoying a dram by yourself whilst relaxing after a long day? Sharing the bottle with a few friends? Whatever the occasion, stick THIS playlist one to make that dram taste that little bit better.
THIS MADE THE CUT BECAUSE
Lochlea has always had a sweet spot in our hearts - an independent, family-owned farm distillery that grows all of its own barley, quietly producing one of the most elegant spirit styles in Scotland. And then we tasted this single cask.
Matured in an ex-Islay cask, it delivers smoke, but not how you know it. There’s no peat in the malt. Instead, this is cask-derived smoke: softer, sweeter, and layered, more like smoked Maldon sea salt sprinkled over vanilla ice cream (yum!) than a medicinal thump of TCP. That nuance, that elegance, that balance - it’s what made this cask stand out.
Oh, and it was picked by Jill Boyd herself — Lochlea’s new Master Blender and all-around whisky legend.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
For brightness and balance, pair this dram with:
Attic Brew Co Centro – A juicy, citrus-laced session IPA with notes of passionfruit and stone fruit that lift the whisky’s orchard notes and play off its creamy smoke.
Small Beer Co Pale Ale – Light and refreshing with tropical fruit and juicy malt, this 2.5% pale ale is the perfect sessionable contrast to the dram’s warming, smoky depth.
Enjoy!
