Wondering what an "Experimental Malt" is? We don’t blame you - it’s a unique category we coined when launching releases #08 and #09. While these spirits qualify as "whiskey" in the US (where they’re from), EU regulations prevent them from being labelled as such. So, we created a name that truly reflects the innovative spirit inside the bottle.
Both #08 and #09 are crafted just like whisky - made from 100% malted barley and aged in oak casks. The twist? Release #08 started life as a heavily hopped IPA, and #09 as a coffee stout. After distillation, these bold beginnings imparted distinctive flavours that set them apart. However, due to the hops in #08 and coffee in #09 before distillation, they don’t meet the EU’s whiskey classification.
The result? Experimental Malts that break the mould - and trust us, they’re absolutely delicious.
