Imagine that first bite of a chocolate brownie, well East London Liquor Company have brought this to life through a collab with Hackney Brewery. Our local distillery and one of our favourite hang-out spots, they’ve matured their London Rye in a Chocolate Stout cask and we’re over the moon to share this with you!
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
A big, chocolatey whisky deserves a big, chocolatey beer to go alongside. If you can get your hands on it, pair it with a Hackney Brewery ‘I Saw a Ghost’ stout, or another of our faves is the rich and indulgent Wiper + True Milk Shake stout.
OTHER COOL THINGS ABOUT THIS WHISKY
Proportion of Rye. This whisky is made up of 55% Malted Rye + 45% Malted Barley, meaning you get this buttery, brioche-y note in the whisky rather than the heavy spice note you can sometimes get from a 100% Rye whisky.
Neighbouring Breweries. The distillery is surrounded by local breweries (Yeastie Boys, 40 Foot, Hackney Brewery), so lots of collaboration opportunities! This single cask came from one with Hackney Brewery - an ex-bourbon cask that was originally filled with their London Rye, transferred to Hackney Brewery to hold a chocolate stout for 10 months, before coming back to the distillery for this whisky to rest in. Mega!
